Total Electron Content
Australian region Total Electron Content map
Product Description
2D map showing near real-time ionospheric Total Electron Content (TEC) conditions. Map produced by combining
regional GNSS data with the IRI-2007 ionospheric model driven by real-time foF2 observations from IPS ionosondes
distributed throughout the region. The ionosphere is modelled as a thin shell at a fixed height of 400km. Slant
delay from GPS satellite to GPS receiver can be estimated from this map, for ionospheric correction.
Target Users
Include industries relying on high-accuracy GNSS positioning: agriculture, surveying, construction, drilling.

Current regional map compared with Klobuchar model
Product Description
A near-real-time comparison of the current (observed) regional TEC map with that of the Klobuchar ionospheric
model using the latest coefficients broadcast by GPS satellites. The Klobuchar model is widely used to correct for
the ionosphere in single frequency GPS applications, and hence the difference between the observed and modelled
TEC is an indicator of the degree to which the ionospheric effect has been corrected for in single frequency GPS
applications.
Target Users
Key product users include industries relying on high-accuracy GNSS positioning: agriculture, surveying,
construction, drilling.
