ASAPS Course

Many people use ASAPS software but are not aware of all the software's capabilities. IPS offers in-house training that takes the user through exercises on ASAPS' capabilities and the interpretation of GRAFEX, Field Strength and Area predictions.

Exercises and discussion are included on the following topics:

  • Configuring ASAPS
  • Databases:
    1. Antenna
    2. Frequency set
    3. Station configuration
    4. Terminal
    5. Circuit
    6. T Index
  • GRAFEX predictions:
    1. Producing GRAFEX
    2. The formats
    3. Interpretation
    4. Recomputing
    5. Frequency set selection and frequency set testing
  • Field strength predictions:
    1. Producing field strength predictions
    2. Interpretation of the different formats
    3. Recomputing
  • Area Predictions:
    1. Producing area predictions
    2. Interpretation
At the end of the training, the user should have an understanding of the prediction types and navigation within the software. ASAPS courses are organised on request only. If you would like more details about an ASAPS course, please contact training@ips.gov.au

Equipment Required: PC with ASAPS software installed. At most two persons per PC.

Cost:
Within Australia: Travel expenses and any training room and equipement hire plus costs according to numbers. Minimum of 5 people required. Price/person below includes GST.

5 to 10 people: AUD$150/person/day.

11-15 people: AUD$150/person/day for first 10, then AUD$100/person/day thereafter.

16 or more people: AUD$150/person/day for first 10, AUD$100/person/day for next 5, then AUD$75/person/day thereafter.

Outside Australia: Price on application.

Note:
Combined HF Radio Propagation/ASAPS training can be arranged where components of the HF Radio Propagation Course and the ASAPS Course are covered.
