Displayed here is the near-real-time regional TEC map specified by the IRI2007 ionospheric model, using URSI climatological input data (fof2, M3000). The IRI2007 model is an empirical model representative of the climatological ionosphere.
Model comparison
Comparison of ionospheric Total Electron Content (TEC) observations with physical and/or empirical models in real time enables both an ongoing evaluation of the models under a range of ionospheric conditions, as well as providing a reference point for current ionospheric conditions, since most models are largely climatological in nature.
