NOTE: Indices may have been generated from data obtained in
cooperation with the following organisations: Geoscience Australia,
University of Newcastle Space Physics Group, Australian Government
Antarctic Division and Space Environment Research Center, Japan.
Quiet to unsettled conditions observed from 15 to 20 January due
to the effect of a high speed solar wind stream from a recurrent
coronal hole. Quiet conditions have been observed from 21 to 23
January and are expected to continue at quiet levels for the next
2. FORECAST (24 JANUARY - 23 FEBRUARY)
No strong recurrent patterns, however mild activity may be experienced on:
3, 9, 10 and 12 February.
Best Quiet Periods:
24 to 31 January, 5 to 8 February, 15 to 23 February.
3. FORECAST FOR HIGH RESOLUTION AEROMAGNETIC SURVEYS
Northern Australian Regions: NA
Central Australian Regions:
Disturbed Periods: None.
Best Quiet Periods: 24 Jan to 7 Feb, 12 Feb to 14 Feb.
Southern Australian Regions:
Disturbed Periods: 9 Feb to 10 Feb.
Best Quiet Periods: 24 Jan to 6 Feb.
Pc3 pulsations are high frequency (10-45 second period) variations
of the Earths magnetic field. Daily pc3-indices are the daily sum of
20 minute pc3-indices for that station and have been shown to be well
correlated with rejection of high resolution aeromagnetic survey
